ART - Mirang Wonne
San Jose Mercury News, Sunday, April 23, 2000

ATHERTON artist Mirang Wonne has a thing for rocks. She paints rocks on canvas and makes rocks out of wire mesh, mulberry paper collage and acid-splashed copper screen. Visitors to her recent show at Villa Mon-talvo found rocks floating in air.

"I tried to put the very solid concept of the rock into lightness and weightlessness," she said. "I hope to transform the idea of the rock into a temporal shape. I see this form like life itself."

Her latest show, "Pathways," runs through May 15 at the Manor House Gallery, 1219 Ralston Ave., Belmont. Admission is free. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. weekends. For more information, call (650) 593-1816.
